Message from the Board

Hello fellow Leaguers,

The election is now less than three weeks away. The big push to make sure all voters are registered is over and our members can celebrate all the hard work they have done. If you still need information about the ballot propositions, League informational brochures are available at all local libraries.

If you are on the Early Voting list, you should have received a ballot by now. Vote early and drop your ballot in a convenient drop box. This maintains the chain of custody and gets your ballot processed sooner. Once you have voted, you can sign up to track your ballot and know when it has been received and your signature verified.

There will be opportunities to text likely voters before the election, so check out the League in Action app.

Now is the time to Get Out the Vote!

In League,

Kathy Henry

LWVNAZ on the Radio!

Our member, Llama Habern, sat down with Brad Miller of Yavapai Broadcasting to answer questions about voting in Yavapai County! Even if you know a lot about voting here, you will probably learn something new. Many of our members are involved in registering voters in Yavapai and Coconino Counties as well as providing important information to voters. Listen via the link below.

County Wide

Track Your Ballot

If you are on the Active Early Voting List, you will have received your ballot already for the general election. Once you have completed your ballot, deposit it in the nearest dropbox to maintain chain of custody of your ballot and save the county money by not having to pay postage.

Once it has been deposited, you can track the status of your ballot by going to: https://my.arizona.vote/PortalList.aspx, identifying yourself, and you can see when your ballot has been received

Protect Voters- Become a Poll Monitor

Thanks to Election Protection Arizona, you can volunteer to be a poll monitor and make sure that all voters can cast their ballot without intimidation. You can either be a static (staying at one polling location) or roving (traveling to multiple polling locations) monitor.

To learn more about what poll monitors do, review the training material. If, after reviewing the training material, you decide you want to be a poll monitor, take the quiz, pass it, and then indicate the time(s) and place where you want to volunteer.

VOTE411 is live for the November Election

Spread the word!!

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of an amazing group of League members, the VOTE411.org guide has been published! The participating candidates have been notified. We also contacted the non-participants, letting them know the guide has been published and reminding them that they still have time to respond.

Visit VOTE411, enter your address, and access your personalized, nonpartisan voter guide.

VOTE411 includes:

  • Candidates' responses to League-developed questions for Federal, state, county, and local races

  • Bio questions, including public policy positions, endorsements, social media tags, and education

  • Information on when, where, and how to vote

  • Key election dates and deadlines

  • Voter registration links and other helpful resources

Candidates can continue submitting responses, so check back regularly for updates.

We invited all candidates—including incumbents and unopposed candidates—to participate. (Write-in candidates are not included because they do not appear on Arizona ballots.) Some county or city races aren't included in the guide because we can only include races where we have accurate, verifiable contact information for every candidate running. In addition, many candidates in partisan races are unopposed in the primaries and choose not to participate until the general election

More help is always welcome!!  If you would like to help contact candidates who haven't responded to questions for the upcoming November Election, please reach out to  lwvazadvocacy@gmail.com

2026 Arizona Statewide Corporation Commission Candidate Debate
Join us Onine!
Sunday Oct 18, 2 pm

Your vote matters. Your participation matters. And the decisions made by the Arizona Corporation Commission affect all of us, every single day.

The League of Women Voters of Arizona invites you to register for our upcoming virtual Arizona Corporation Commission Candidate Debate.

Throughout this election season, the League has made determined and good-faith efforts to organize candidate debates and voter forums across Arizona. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, insufficient participation by candidates has forced us to cancel several of these important opportunities for voters to hear directly from those seeking public office.

That makes your participation in this event even more important.

Democracy works best when candidates engage with voters, answer difficult questions, and explain their positions on issues that affect our communities. Voters deserve these opportunities, and we must demonstrate that Arizonans are paying attention and expect accountability from those seeking to represent them.

Why the Arizona Corporation Commission Matters

The Arizona Corporation Commission is one of the most consequential elected bodies in our state, yet many voters know relatively little about its responsibilities. The Commission regulates major public utilities and makes decisions that affect electricity rates, energy policy, utility services, and the costs Arizona families and businesses pay every day.

These decisions reach directly into our homes, our household budgets, and our communities.

We need a Commission that is accountable to the people of Arizona, reflects the interests of the communities it serves, and makes decisions with transparency and the public interest at heart.

Meet the Candidates

The following candidates have been invited to participate:

  • Clara Pratte — Democratic Party

  • Jonathan Hill — Democratic Party

  • Kevin Thompson — Republican Party

  • Ralph Heap — Republican Party

  • Mike Cease — Green Party

An invitation does not necessarily indicate confirmed participation. Clara Pratte declined

We urge every League member, community partner, and concerned Arizona voter receiving this invitation to register, attend, and share it widely with friends, neighbors, and community networks.

When candidates make themselves available to voters, we need to show up. Strong public participation sends a powerful message: Arizona voters care about the issues, expect meaningful dialogue, and value the opportunity to make informed decisions at the ballot box.

The League of Women Voters is committed to empowering voters and defending democracy. We cannot do this work alone.

Please register. Please attend. And please help us spread the word.

Together, we can demonstrate that informed and engaged voters are the foundation of a strong democracy.

With appreciation,

League of Women Voters of Arizona
Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

LWVNAZ MEMBERS REACH OUT TO GEN Z

A strategic priority of LWVAZ for the next several years is reaching out and engaging young voters in the work of the League of Women Voters.

We recognize that a critical component of successfully reaching out to and engaging young voters is the development of positive and mutually beneficial relationships between mentors and students.

As “experienced” voters, we have much to share with young people as they, in turn, help us gain new knowledge and insights into what is important to their generation.  Undoubtedly, the act of listening to each other is integral to the success of this important League initiative.

Entitled LWVNAZ Young Voters Engagement Project, students participating in the project at Mingus Union High School (Cottonwood) and Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy completed voter registration training and are preparing to lead campus wide voter registration drives at their respective schools during April.

Students also are learning about how to use and contribute to Vote 411 and strategies for preparing for local candidate forums.

LWVNAZ received a grant in the amount of $1000 from LWVUS to support this project to reach out to and engage young voters.  The project is a partnership with Rural Organizing Initiative (Rural Voices, Rural Voters). Local league members serving as mentors to young voters include Robyn Prud’homme Bauer, Gail A. Digate, Angela LeFevre, Lani Nallira-Frahm, Francesca Martin, Rose O’Donnell, and Llama Habern (ROI).

If you are interested in learning more about serving as a mentor to young voters in 2026-2027 school year, please contact Robyn Prud’homme Bauer (rcpbauer@gmail.com) or Gail A. Digate (ggdigate@gmail.com).
